One day, I sat across from a client. She was a brilliant, educated, resilient woman.
Her résumé was solid. Her experience was strong.
But her energy was heavy, defensive, tense, full of invisible bruises.
She came from a cultural minority background, and she wore a veil.
For years, she had applied for jobs that matched her profile, but doors stayed closed.
The feedback was never direct, but the message was always the same:
“We don’t trust you. We don’t want you”
Past coaches have suggested her to make herself smoother, more “neutral” and conceal her religious identity, which hurt her feelings and convictions.
At first, I did what I always do in the face of a complex situation: I went into problem-solving mode.
I analyzed her résumé and her cover letter. Everything checked out on paper. I thought about networking strategies, too.
But the problem wasn’t strategic or technical. It was human.
So I stopped trying to “fix” her situation and started listening.
Really listening.
I asked about her life. Her journey. Her hobbies.
That’s when I discovered something she had never thought to mention:
she had been a competitive athlete in martial arts for years, and now she coaches children.
Suddenly, the whole picture changed.
✨ All the traits she thought made her “different” became proof of leadership:
✅ Discipline under pressure.
✅ Patience and precision.
✅ Building trust over time.
✅ Leading across generations.
We reframed her story together.
She was no longer “a candidate trying to prove herself.”
She became “a disciplined, high-performance woman shaped by resilience and cultural depth.”
We worked step by step:
her nonverbal communication, her mindset before interviews, her letter of motivation.
And then, the shift happened.
She was invited for an interview she never thought she would get.
The recruiter, instead of interrogating her, was inspired by her.
They laughed. They connected.
By the end, he was already planning how they would work together.
She walked out glowing.
Not because she became someone else, but because she allowed herself to be seen differently.
💡Kind Reminder
Sometimes, our brightest gifts and strengths hide under layers of rejection, old feedback, or personal disappointments.
We end up showing the world our wounds instead of our light.
But the real transformation happens when we slow down, when we choose curiosity over control, and connection over performance.
You are not a résumé. You might be an amazing story waiting to be rediscovered.
Surround yourself with people who can see the light in you.
And if you can’t find them yet, ask for help.
Sometimes, one conversation, one mirror, one session can change everything.
